Why would a balloon inside a bell jar inflate when pressure is decreased within the jar?

The balloon exists in a separate pressure system from the bell jar itself. As the balloon is open to the surrounding air, the pressure within the balloon is 1 atm (1 atmospheric unit of pressure = 105 Pa).When pressure is decreased within the jar, the pressure within the jar decreases to a value lower than 1 atm. Therefore, to counter the low pressure created in the jar, the atmospheric air moves into the balloon and pushes the balloon into the jar to attempt to equalize the pressure in the balloon and in the jar. Therefore the balloon inflates.

What happens when you put a balloon in a jar then remove all the air?

If you put an inflated balloon in a jar and then remove the air from the jar the balloon will expand. Perhaps to the point of bursting, or to the point where it coats the entire inner surface of the jar.

Why does placing a jar under warm running water help loosen the lid?

There are two ways that putting a jar under warm water helps loosen the lid. When heated, materials expand. So the air in the jar could expand, reducing any internal suction. Secondly, the metal cap could expand so as to not have as much friction with the rest of the jar.

Why does an inflated balloon inflate inside a bell jar?

because outside air is no longer compressing the sides of the balloon, so the pressure outwards is unbalanced and the balloon grows
