Tigers, like other mammals, use scent when seeking a mate. Animals, insects and plants secrete "pheremones" which are sexual-attractants emitted into the air. Also, there is the scent of the female in estrus (ovulating and willing to accept a mate). Darwin's theory of "survival of the fittest" means that only the strongest, superior animals will survive and breed.
