Algebra is used almost aspect of life. From the the simple y=mx equation to ratios everything is used. The most common example I see is the use of ratios at the grocery store. X price/A size=Y price/B size, to see which is the better deal. Also, law enforcement uses algebra to recreate accidents to serve justice.
