An aircraft has instruments that indicate the exact location, route of flying, altitude, speed of flying etc. to the pilot. You dont need sunlight to fly, land and depart an aircraft.
When approaching an airport runway, you have special lightson right and left side of the runway that tell you if your approach is to high, too low or just right. And you have other lights all the way to the runway that lead you and help you land.
