A solar eclipse occurs when the Moon comes between the Earth and the Sun and darkens the skies. It can be dangerous to look directly at an eclipse as the rays from the Sun send a lot of radiation to viewers on the Earth.

A lunar eclipse is when the Earth is between the Sun and Moon and the Earth casts a shadow on the Moon.

When the Sun, Earth, and Moon are in a straight lineeither the Moon casts its shadow on the Earth (some observers on earth will see the sun blocked out for a short time - a solar eclipse) or the Earth's shadow covers the Moon (all observers will see the moon dim and be unable to reflect the Sun's light).

well when the moon is orbiting the earth and the earth is orbiting the sun at one point the moon and the sun and the earth are all in line so it casts a shadow on the earth because the moon is blocking out the suns light in a cerrtain place of the world cccccccausing it to turn black

A solar eclipse occurs when the moon passes directly between the sun and the earth. By pure coincidence, the size of the moons disc can match the apparent size of the sun, because the moon is closer.

A lunar eclipse happens when the moon passes behind the earth, relative to the sun. This creates a shadow of the earth calling on the moon's surface. Since the moon is only lit because of reflected sunlight, we see the moon gradually 'disappear' and reappear.
