Riding hard and watching your diet can make you lose fat/weight. If you lose fat, muscles, incl your abs may become more visible. but for actual abs training, bicycling isn't that efficient.

The big abs you can get by doing endless sets of situps and crunches every chance you get, and bicycling won't really help with that.
But bicycling is a good way to get long exercise hours in, which burns off a lot of calories, which you'll need to do to get rid of the sub-q fat.
The downside is that we're meant to have that fat. It's our padding, our insulation and our energy reserve. Remove that and you run the risk of your energy levels and immune system fading, and that's only to start with.

∙ 13y agoNot a lot. For seated riding your legs see the most action. For standing riding you do get a bit of upper body action as well, although mostly in your back.
