Just imagine that one passes a book right from the last row to the first row in a class room so as to hand over to that to the teacher. This is conduction. Same way heat energy is carried from one atom to another by means of vibration and finally heat reaches the other end of the rod as it is heated at one end.
COnvection is similar to taking the book by the studen to the teacher as he moves from the last bench. This happens in case of heating water kept in a vessel. Water at bottom would carry over the energy to the top as it becomes lighter and cold dense water comes down.
Now radiation is some how equivalent to throwing the book efficiently right to the teacher with his permission. This is the same in case of heat right from Sum reaches our earth though there is no material medium in between. Scientists have found this heat radiation is nothing but electromagnetic waves which does not need any material medium. Even through free space it can traverse in the form of transverse waves.
