Deforestation is when forests are being cut down or burned. Lots of animals use trees as a habitat and when their homes are being cut down or burned, they don't know where to live. Eventually they die because of starvation or predators. They can also die becuase of bad weather, since they don't have shelter, they will not be protected by harsh weather.
I think they are endangered because or deforestation.

Committee on the Status of Endangered Wildlife in Canada was created in 1977.
Orangutans are becoming endangered due to habitat destruction, mainly caused by deforestation for activities like logging, agriculture, and mining. Additionally, illegal hunting, poaching, and the pet trade also contribute to their declining population. The loss of habitat leads to food scarcity and increased human-wildlife conflicts, further threatening their survival.
Hippos are endangered due to habitat loss, human-wildlife conflict, and illegal hunting for their ivory teeth. Deforestation and water pollution also contribute to their declining populations. Additionally, climate change is affecting their habitats and food sources.
