A person with Bipolar disorder, also known as manic depression, experiences manic episodes and usually depressive episodes(also hypomanic and mixed episodes).
According to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manuel of Mental Illnesses (DSM-IV-TR), "manic episodes are defined by a distinct period during which there is an abnormally and persistently elevated, expansive, or irritable mood." During depressive episodes, there is either "depressed mood or the loss of interest or pleasure in nearly all activities."

∙ 14y agoDepression in mental terms can seriously damage you. Once you get in mentally, you will hurt yourself physically (in some cases) to relieve oneself of the Mental pain. Medicine is the answer for some people for others, they just try to get through with life. You may feel sad or angry all the time or you could also feel like you're on a roller coaster of emotions.....
