Documentary Photography is when a photograph is taken with the intent to show something in the truest way possible without making any personal changes. Conceptual Photography is usually a way to make statements. The main difference between the two is that one informs how things are and the other shows the audience what they want them to see. From the two examples the were shown to us from our instructor I would say that the one on the left is a Documentary photograph and the other one is a Conceptual photograph.

Documentary photography generally refers to a type of photojournalism in which the photographer attempts to produce a truthful, objective and usually candid photograph of a particular subject. This area of photography is often used as historical documents rather than serving as a source of art or aesthetic pleasure. It can be used to incite political and social change due to its ability to capture the "true" nature of an image or location. In short, this school of photography uses pictures as documented evidence of a particular situation.

Oftentimes, these pictures tend to be shocking, grotesque, vivid and intense to prove a point and evoke a viewer's emotions. Some of the most common examples of documentary photographs are featured in modern newspapers and magazines. Through these images, the public learns truth information about culturual, political and environmental situations.

Artistic photography refers to photographs that are created to fulfill the creative vision of the photographer. However, there are no universally accepted definitions of the term "art photography," "artistic photography" and "fine art photography" - primarily because artistic value is very much in the eye of the beholder.

Artistic photography can be described as photography purely for the sake of expressing the artist's own vision and feelings; it can also be defined by what it is not. It is not like commercial photography in that it is not produced to sell a product or promote an image. It is not journalistic in nature where a photograph is taken to capture or tell a visual story that coincides with a written one. Artistic photography is focused on the aesthetic or inspirational value of an image.

Mapping in DBMS architecture?

We know that three view-levels are described by means of three schemas. These schemas are stored in the data dictionary. In DBMS, each user refers only to its own external schema. Hence, the DBMS must transform a request on. a specified external schema into a request against conceptual schema, and then into a request against internal schema to store and retrieve data to and from the database. The process to convert a request (from external level) and the result between view levels is called mapping. The mapping defines the correspondence between three view levels. The mapping description is also stored in data dictionary. The DBMS is responsible for mapping between these three types of schemas. There are two types of mapping. (i) External-Conceptual mapping (ii) Conceptual-Internal mapping External-Conceptual Mapping An external-conceptual mapping defines the correspondence between a particular external view and the conceptual view. The external-conceptual mapping tells the DBMS which objects on the conceptual level correspond to the objects requested on a particular user's external view. If changes are made to either an external view or conceptual view, then mapping must be changed accordingly. Conceptual-Internal Mapping The conceptual-internal mapping defines the correspondence between the conceptual view and the internal view, i.e. database stored on the physical storage device. It describes how conceptual records are stored and retrieved to and from the storage device. This means that conceptual-internal mapping tells the DBMS that how the conceptual! records are physically represented. If the structure of the stored database is changed, then the mapping must be changed accordingly. It is the responsibility of DBA to manage such changes.

What is the difference between a photographer and a photojournalist?

Photojournalism is a special kind of journalism. While journalism itself involves the reporting of news (whether in print or on TV, radio, or the internet), photojournalism refers to the taking of pictures (photographs, videos, illustrations), usually to enhance a news story. Many reporters, especially in print, have relied on what used to be called the "press photographer" to take the right pictures that will make an impact in the story. Some photojournalists have also broken news: there are several famous images during the Vietnam war, one of which showed children running in pain from a Napalm attack and another showed a prisoner being shot in the head. These photos shocked Americans and helped to change public opinion about the war. Today, in our visual world, words alone will often not move the public the way a picture or an illustration will. Thus, photojournalism remains very important in the reporting of news.
