If there were no force attracting the sun and a planet toward each other, then
the planet would move at a constant speed in a straight line, and would just sail
away from the sun, never to be seen again. But since there are forces of attraction
between them, they're constantly being pulled together, and they wind up both
revolving around their common center of mass.

It is not gravity because there is no gravity in space, only some on certain planets, deffiantly on earth. It is done by the strength from other planets the sun for instance. Heat waves. Some of the gravity in space does help keep the planets and satellites in orbit.
