It is very satisfying to create a blog which generates interest and results in genuine traffic. It feels even better when visitors feel comfortable enough and compelled to comment on your content (in constructive ways).
Conversely, it can also be a burden, if taken seriously, in that it should be treated as a commitment. If one is not adding content regularly, it is unlikely that the blog itself is serving any real purpose, and should therefore be retired.
Likewise, to blog on controversial topics with good intent, and suffer a barrage of ill-will and unconstructive comments can be demoralizing unless one is prepared for it and willing to counter or ignore it.
