The platypus is not a reptile - it is an egg-laying mammal.
what does the platypus do to help the enviroment
Neither. A platypus is totally different from either - it lays eggs and has a bill that does not actually even resemble the bill of a duck, as it has completely different functions. The platypus is an egg-laying mammal, or monotreme, in the same family as e echidna. it is not related to the beaver, which is a placental mammal; nor is it related to the duck, which is not a mammal at all, but a bird.
DNA help classify the platypus because with out it the DNA the platypus would be classified with the marsupials which would be wrong.
A platypus is not in the same family as ducks or crocodiles. It is an egg laying semi-aquatic mammal. It is neither a bird, like a duck, nor a reptile, like a crocodile. Specifically, the platypus is a monotreme, or egg-laying mammal. Its closest relative is the echidna, the only other egg-laying mammal.
so you can see all the animals and help them if they need help.......
The beaver is not an endangered mammal. Still quite common.
Platypuses are not really in need of any help. Since they have been protected by law, their numbers are estimated to have returned to the same levels they were when European settlement first began in Australia. Their biggest threat is habitat loss and being entangled in fishing nets, but increased awareness of these problems is reducing their effects on the platypus population.
Do we really need to discuss this? IT'S PERRY THE PLATYPUS! I mean, SERIOUSLY, you guys don't know that? You need help. Now. It's not even funny. Or watch an episode of Phineas and Ferb. Do it NOW!
The crocodile is the most successful reptile. It has existed as is for millions of years.
Beyond both being warm-blooded, semi-aquatic mammals which have fur, there are no other similarities between a platypus and a beaver. A better question would be "What are the differences between a platypus and a beaver?" These are:A beaver is a rodent which bears live young; a platypus is a monotreme (egg-laying mammal)A beaver has large front teeth; platypuses have a bill with no teeth, but grinding platesPlatypuses live in Australia and beavers live in North America and Canada.A platypus digs a burrow in the side of a riverbank or creekbank, with an extra chamber at the end for incubating and raising its young; a beaver chews down trees to eat and makes a dam to raise its young. The platypus is the only venomous mammal - the male has a spur on its hind leg with which to inject poison that is extremely painful and has long-lasting effectsThe beaver's tail is broader and flatter than a platypus's, and covered with special scales. The platypus's tail is covered with dense fur.Their tails serve different purposes. The beaver's tail is used to help propel it along in the water. The platypus's tail is used as a rudder, for steering when it is swimming.
The platypus, one of only two types of mammals that lay eggs, has a duck-like bill, or extended snout, which is not actually a beak. The animal was commonly referred to as the duck-billed platypus. The bill does not open as a bird's beak does, the mouth being on the underside and the nostrils on the front of the upper side.
The mother does. Father does not help.
