This a hard question to answer. Darwin gave us some guidance.
It, I assume, is a living thing.
Living things interact with each other in a way which benefits themselvs and their progeny. If the way the parents interact is beneficial to them then their progeny will inherit their benificial characteristics.

In a swamp, non-living elements like water, sunlight, and minerals provide the necessary environment for living organisms to thrive. Living things such as plants, animals, and microorganisms interact with these non-living elements to create a balanced ecosystem. For example, plants use sunlight and water for photosynthesis, while animals rely on the plants for food and shelter. Over time, decaying organic matter from living organisms contributes to the nutrient cycle in the swamp ecosystem.
Enzymes act as catalysts in living things.

Together they act better. Amoxicillin is one of the best antibiotic for aerobic bacteria. Another drug is metronidazole. It act against most of the anaerobic bacteria.
Oh, dude, living and nonliving things in an environment interact in a super chill way. Living things, like plants and animals, depend on nonliving things, such as water and sunlight, for survival. And nonliving things just kind of do their thing, not really caring about the drama between the living beings. It's like a big party where everyone's just vibing together, you know?
