well first they have to hatch it (of course) and then the mother takes care of the EGG for quite a while but when the egg is hatched it doesn't take care of it that much. It grabs the baby's body with its teeth and takes it to the water and then the mother lets her baby go free and fight for itself.

The mother croc puts the eggs in her mouth until they hatch, then when they do, she spits them out, weans the with fish and other small mammals, then lets them go off on there own
