Itachi Uchiha was killed by his younger brother, Sasuke. Sasuke believed that Itachi killed their entire clan, the Uchiha clan, only to prove that he could. Driven by revenge, Sasuke managed to kill his brother years later. He learned later that his brother was in fact a spy for a rival clan. After learning that the Uchiha clan planed to attack the rival clan, Uchiha was order by the latter to wipe out the Uchiha. He did so but was couldn't bring himself to kill his younger brother, Sasuke, who knew nothing of the rivalry between the two clans. Note: Uchiha Itachi would have died of an illness, but prolonged his life so that Sasuke could kill him, as he actually loved his younger brother and wanted him to become stronger.
