If you are asking about the lift in terms of flying, then this is a simple explanation of it:

a wing is curved on top, and straight on the bottom. This means that if the wing starts moving forwards, the air has to move faster over the top of the wing, than underneath the bottom of it, creating an area of lower pressure at the top. This means that the high pressure from the bottom is greater than the pressure from the top, forcing the wing upwards.

if this is somewhat awkwardly explained, this site might help better:

Is work being done when you lift a box?

Yes, work is being done when you lift a box against the force of gravity. Work is defined as the force applied over a distance, and in this case, the force you exert to lift the box is acting over a vertical distance, thus work is being done.

Is work done if you lift a brick?

Yes, work is done when you lift a brick against gravity because you are exerting a force over a distance in the direction of the force of gravity. Work is defined as force multiplied by distance in the direction of the force, so lifting the brick requires work to be done.

What mass requires 3KJ of work to lift it by 3mm?

The work done to lift an object is given by the formula: work = force x distance. Since work is given as 3 kJ (3000 J) and distance is given as 3 mm (0.003 m), the force required to lift the object can be calculated. Using the formula for force (mass x gravity), you can determine the mass of the object that requires this work to lift it.
