They are not the same. Convex lens bulge outward, and concave lenses go in ward. Convex lenses focus light, and concave lenses spread light out.
It is a convex mirror. .
convex mirror
They use convex lenses because they need to focus the light IN to the eye. Convex focuses in while concave spreads the light out. So, they use convex lenses.
Light rays converge as well as diverge. it depends upon the type of lens or mirror you pass it through. A concave lens or a convex mirror diverges the light whereas a convex lens or a concave mirror converges the light rays!
concave spread light and convex collects lght
The "ease" with which light travels through a lens has to do with the material the lens is made of. If a concave and convex lens are both made of the same material, say, silicon glass, then the light behaves in an identical way within both lenses. What happens on the front and back sides of the surface of the lens is a different story. This is because the light will be reflected and refracted differently by the different lenses because of their shape. But the light behaves the same way within both lenses as it is passing through.
The cornea is convex. Remember that conCAVE curves in the way - like a cave. The cornea is convex as it helps the rays of light to converge (come together). Hope that helps!
