Light is both like a wave and like a particle. Particles don't need anything through which to travel; in fact, you might expect particles to travel better when there's nothing for them to interact with. Light is like that, too. Light travels faster in a vacuum than through any material as packets of pure energy (photons).

Yes, light can travel in space. Light is an electromagnetic wave, and it doesn't need a medium to travel through. A medium is matter that mechanical waves use to travel. And of course, the sun is in space, and the light from it gets to us. In fact, it takes about 7 to 8 minutes for it to get here from the sun.

Light is an electromagnetic radiation and, like all such radiation, it consists of electromagnetic waves. These are synchronised oscillations of electric and magnetic fields which propagate at the speed of light through a vacuum. The oscillations of the two fields are perpendicular to each other and also perpendicular to the direction of energy and wave propagation, forming transverse waves.

What does light travel through best empty space or matter?

Light travels fastest through empty space.

What is waves that can travel through empty space?

light

Why does light travel faster through empty space than matter?

It doesn't travel faster through a vacuum. In our Universe there is no such thing as empty space.

Can light waves travel through an empty space?

Yes.

What kind of wave is able to travel through both matter and empty space?

A type of wave that can travel through empty space as well as through matter is electromagnetic wave. Light travels fastest in empty spaces.

Does light waves travel fastest through empty space?

Light waves, like all electromagnetic waves, travel without a medium, so they can travel through empty space. Sound waves, on the other hand, do require a medium to travel or propagate; therefore, they can not travel through empty space.

Do Light Waves Require Mediums?

Light waves can travel through empty space. You might say that the empty space is the medium in this case.

What is an empty space that contains no matter that light can travel through?

A vacuum.

Which do not travel through empty space?

sound cannot travel through empty space.

Why does light travel fastest through empty space?

because there is nothing in space to block the light and no barometric pressure

What are not able to travel through empty space ultraviolet waves or sound waves?

Sound waves cannot travel through empty space because they require air particles to transfer them. UV is a light wavelength and can travel through space (just like light from the Sun reaches the planets).

Does heat travel through empty space by conduction?

No, there can't be conduction in empty space. Heat may travel through empty space through radiation, though.
