How does living in a damp climate such as vancouver islandaffect how people store and maintain household items?
Coast Mountains & the Islands: Generally an area of heavy precipitation. Apart from a wet regime, mild temperatures and long frost-free periods are the rule.
That depends on where you live. I, for example, live on Vancouver Island where Springtime generally brings mild temperatures, but also rain. However, for someone living in the tropics or up in the Arctic, it could be quite different.
The mere presence of water, e.g. a river running through it, does not. But oceanic currents do affect the climate - therefore called the "oceanic climate" - of mostly western coastal areas on the middle latitudes of the globe and the cities located there. The Gulf Stream for instance gives the cities in western Europe a temperate climate. Similar currents make for instance the west Canadian coastal city of Vancouver the warmest of Canada.
A continental climate zone is most likely located in the middle of a continent.
Low income populations are affected by climate change to a greater degree. Higher income individuals can afford to move to more temperate climates and maintain two homes, as well as run their air conditioners and heaters, whereas lower income can not.

Because the climate along its coast is tempered by the North Pacific Current.
Being on the West coast, Vancouver gets a lot of rain and has a mild temperature range. The winter is not too cold and the summer is not too hot.
Ozone layer maintains the global warming. It thus maintains the climate.
