Harvard and Caltech. I completely disagree. Caltech may be in the top ten engineering schools but certainly not top five...while Harvard is not even in the top ten. The best answer is Stanford and UC Berkeley. That depends how you interpret "rival". From a ranking/academic perspective, you may be right (though I feel Caltech is comparable to MIT). From a personal/historic perspective, MIT has a long history of hacking with Caltech and Harvard (MIT stole the caltech cannon!). In the MIT student culture, Caltech and Harvard are ingrained as the main rivals.
Stanford, Duke, MIT, CALTech... those ones are mistaken as Ivies.
MIT and Caltech both have good programs for aero astro engineering.
The top 5 insititutions for engineering are: MIT (USA) Berkeley (USA) Stanford (USA) Caltech (USA) Cambridge (UK)
There are many great universities in America which have the best engineering classes. Some great schools to look at include CalTech, MIT, and Georgia Tech.
Carnegie Mellon in Pittsburgh PA is one of the premier Robotics schools in the US, RIT, MIT, and CalTech are always good for anything technical/Engineering.
Which is the best is dependent on what is important to you in a school. MIT and Caltech are two schools with excellent computer engineering programs, so perhaps they would qualify as the best schools.
Overall yes. But for engineering, Purdue belongs right up there with MIT, Berkeley, and UIUC. I know of a couple of people who went to Purdue ECE declining offers from Stanford and Caltech EE. But then, it also depends on the exact area within engineering.
ofcourse...unbeaten for many decades...the epitome of an engineering...however...it is as difficult to get through...even with a perfect sat score... Answer It is without a doubt the best. You will here that CalTech is... but no, they don't have the best reputation in the USA like MIT does. MENS ET MANUS!!! =)
My name is Dr. Veerasajan and I am a mathematician that graduated from MIT and Caltech so you must trust me on this. After much thought and careful scrutiny, the only answer to this is........................................ my HUGE BELLY! Wahoo! Shake it!
I remember reading an article that the first hybrid was put together by a Professor at CalTech in Pasadena, California (the MIT of the West Coast if I may) in 1975. If I remember right it was a full size GM passenger car. Suggest you check CalTech's website and history to verify. Hope this helps. It's simply an acronym for what it is-an instite of technology- M is location.
