mitosis is the division of the nucleus, this process results in two daughter cells that are genetically identical to the mother cell. Apoptosis is when the cell is programmed to kill itself, it decreases the number of cells. These are two opposing processes that keep the number of healthy cells in balance.

Mitosis is the process of cell division. There are four phases: (In order) Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telephase. In prophase... the chromosomes become visable and the spinal forms. In metaphase.. all the chromosomes line up in the middle. In anaphase... the chromosomes split in half and move to opposite ends. In telephase.. nucluer envolopes form around the separated chromotids (half of a chromosome).
