Rain can become acidic in a few ways:
1. Ground water can be mixed with chemicals that were dumped by a factory, industry, etc. or accidentally spilled. When the ground water evaporates, the chemicals stay with the water, and when it precipitates, it still has the chemicals/acid in it.
2. When condensed water in clouds is mixed with air pollution give off by factories, industries, air planes, etc. chemicals that are given off can mix with it, making the rain acidic.
I hope this answered your question! ^.^
Acid rain is made by normal rain falling down onto planet earth, but on the way down it falls through a smog. Smogs are made of all the air pollution from too much coal, oil, and gas being burned in factories. Smogs can spread FAR!! for example California gets smogs from across the Pacific Ocean. When rain falls onto a forest that has a smog above it, there are horrible results! Also if it falls into any ponds, rivers, lakes or even ocean it causes the fishies to die:(
It is also caused by the amount of carbon dioxide / monoxide and sulpher dioxide which is released by power plants and other machines.
These chemicals contribute to changing the PH of the clouds, thus making acid rain.
acid rain kills everything thats living practially
Yes, acid rain is considered harmful for plants, soil ,living organisms and even buildings. Acid rain is basically caused by a chemical reaction that begins when compounds like Sulphur dioxide and Nitrogen oxides are released into the air. these substances rises high in the atmosphere and mix and react with water H2O and oxygen O2 to form acid pollutants , known as ACIDID RAIN... for example colour of Statue of Liberty is also changed by some affections of acid rain
Acid rain effects our environment in many ways. i have to write an essay for school about the ways acid rain can effect the environment, so i thought that i would help out anyone else. acid rain effects the trees, fish life, crustaceans, contaminates lakes and swimholes and all these things can lead up to bigger problems. love cupsie!!!
Acid rain is harmful that question depends on how strong the acid is the lower the pH the stronger, Stronger acid corrodes your skin if you get caught in, kills trees by burning their interior cells, Corrodes organisms in lakes and if mixed with other acids this causes severe damages to houses. Sulfur dioxide is released into the atmosphere as a by-product of the combustion of coal or oil, and in the presence of water vapor, it chemically reacts in the atmosphere with oxygen - forming H2SO4 - Sulfuric Acid - the primary constituent of acid rain. Acid rain affects our environment in many ways. Acid rain affects the trees, fish life, crustaceans, contaminates lakes and swimholes and all these things can lead up to bigger problems.
It kills its food because the pH can be so low it's not healthy to drink or to water plants.
Sulphur Dioxide causes rain to become more acidic which makes acid rain.
fertilisers and acid rain
acid rain decomposes limestone (calcium carbonate), causing houses and buildings made out of them to become worn
It is However now that we are aware of the causes of acid rain we are far more carefull to avoid it and it has become less of an issue
Acid rain is different to regular rain as it contains compounds of nitric oxide and other gases that have combined with water vapour in rain clouds to become acid rain...at least, i think so : )

The enzymes become denatured
Acid rain is acid rain.
The biggest problem with acid rain in nature is that lakes become acidified, which kills the fish, which are not adapted to live in acidic water.
So far no one has been killed by acid rain. The main concern is not that people will be burned to death by the acid, but that lakes will become acidified and fish will die.
acid rain formation is chemical change when oxides of nitrogen or sulphur tri oxide present in the poluted atmosphere combines with rain water and they give respective acid solutions so the rain water become slitely acidic
