It doesn't really benefit modern computers too much. On older computers, each device added to a system used an interrupt. Removing them would free up interrupts for other hardware to use, or allow you to use two devices at the same time that you couldn't previously, because they had to share the same interrupt.
On modern computers, devices are designed to share interrupts and still be usable simultaneously, so removing them doesn't simplify anything.
