Having a fight is not necessarily a bad thing. People are all different and because of that differences of opinion will always arise between two people - especially when they are living with each other for a long time. Going outside was probably the best thing one of them could have done if the row was not 'progressing' - if they were arguing around and around in circles - which happens often. Going outside allows both parties time to stop and think, and it stops the fight. Time to think means that they can both reconsider what they said, and what the other one said. It also allows them a chance to work out how to settle their differences. If you really feel that you must get involved (and it may be best not to... but that's up to you, the person on the spot, we can't advise you when we don't know the details) then just have a quiet word with each of them about how the fight made you feel - try not to take sides.... arguments between married couples are often 'really' about something else, and not really about the subject of the fight.
