Simply by the amount of light that each of the mentioned type of objects which will not be allowed to pass through them. There is not anything that will not cast a shadow, except air at normal temperature and some gasses. A sheet of glass will cast a faint shadow because it is not completely transparent.

Which type of solid will cast a shadow translucent opaque transparent or heavy?

opaque

Is a basketball transparent or translucent or opaque?

its opaque, its not transperent because you cant see the inside of it. transculent isn't either because it creates shadow.

Is a shadow translucent?

The shadow is not a solid 'black' colour. It can be the same colour as the object and the shadow allows you to see through it more than an opaque objects shadow. An opaque object would block the light but a translucent object would give a shadow that you could quite easily see through

Can an opaque object produce a shadow?

Yes. Definitely it produces but its intensity will be low.answer 2 In general ONLY opaque objects will produce a shadow. A truly transparent object would not produce a shadow. Look up Opaque in your dictionary.

What is the difference between transparent translucent and opaque?

a transparent object is one that lets light pass through with no shadows formed eg. clear window , transparent glassa translucent object lets only some light go through (not all)and forms a shadow that is very light eg. bathroom windowan opaque object lets no light pass through and forms a shadow eg. table, chair, etc

What are opaque object?

There are 3 types of objects:1.TRANSPARENT OBJECTS:(have no shadow)it is the object that you can see clearly through .EX: water , gas2.SEMI-TRANSPARENT OBJECTS:can be seen through but not clear enough.3.OPAQUE OBJECTS:(have a shadow as light cannot pass through it but reflects)can't be seen through at all.

What is a shadow formed by a translucent object called?

opaque object

Is translucent object casts a shadow?

The shadow is grey but not complete black as that of opaque object.

Why opaque objects do not cause a shadow?

Opaque objects do not let light to past through so it will not cause a shadow. Because light cannot get through an opaque object, it will cast a shadow on the side opposite of the light.

What happens to light when opaque meets a transparent material?

shadow formed on the other side of transparent material

What is opaque transparent and translucent?

opaque-not transparent or translucent; impenetrable to light; not allowing light to pass through. transparent-having the property of transmitting rays of light through its substance so that bodies situated beyond or behind can be distinctly seen. translucent materials-Translucent materials offer a signifi cant color measurement challenge since they interact with light in far less controlled manner than most other materials. The color of a material is calculated from measurements of its relative spectral refl ectance or transmittance. When light is incident on an opaque non-metal or metal surface, the fi rst surface interaction determines the corresponding perception of gloss and color. Similarly, for transparent materials, light refl ected at the fi rst surface is responsible for the perception of gloss, while light transmitted straight through the material gives the color. Translucent materials have both opaque and transparent characteristics. Some incident light refl ects off the fi rst surface as gloss, while some enters the material and undergoes multiple scattering and light trapping within the material, resulting in a diffuse pattern of refl ectance. In a second interaction, light is scattered and transmitted through the sample, emerging on the other side in a diffuse pattern. As a result, color can be seen in both diffuse refl ectance and transmittance, depending on how the sample is viewed. opaque example-books,stone,shoes,wood,stem of a plant transparent example-diamond , Pure Water , Screen , Air , translucent materials -waterbottles, eyeglass lenses

What materials form light shadows?

Any material that is not 100% transparent will produce a shadow in light. Even glass will produce some amount of a shadow. The more opaque a material is, the darker the shadow. The more transparent a material is, the lighter the shadow.
