If you remember, Jackie shoots Simon in the leg. Not true, Jackie aims somewhere else and shoots the couch instead, in the bar. Simon had ink on his hands so that it he would squirt it everywhere in the leg to look he actually was shot and blood was everywhere. Jackie was in a panic and Simon told somebody to take her to the doctor, when he was alone in the bar. He grabbed the gun Jackie threw on the ground after shooting Simon and that no one picked up. He runs with the gun shoots linnet ridgeway, goes back to where he was lying with his foot hurt and really shoots himself on the leg. Then the next ay the maid finds linnet dead, knowing Simon could not of done it because he was injured and Jackie insane.

In Agatha Christie's novel "Death on the Nile," Simon Doyle does not kill Linnet Doyle. The murder in the story is committed by Jacqueline de Bellefort, who shoots Linnet in a fit of jealousy and revenge.
