Coronary arteries supply blood and oxygen to the heart muscle, when they become stenosed, or narrowed due to the artery becoming hardened due to smoking, limited blood gets the the heart and the muscle begins to die. Same with the brain, and the vessels that supply the brain can be very small, so narrowing of these arteries can cause a limited flow of blood to the brain causing stroke.
