New technology has provided great feats toward our understanding of volcanoes. Scientists have developed special instruments which can take precise measurements of temperature, even at temperatures that would melt other such thermometers. Other new forms of technology designed especially for volcano exploration include "volcano suits", or special suits, almost like those astronauts wear, that protect a human's body from the extreme heat that rises from the top of the volcano.
