The Bible is the Word of God. It is the only book with no errors. It gives us truth because it tells us of the One who made all things - the One who created truth; God. And if you think "But how can this be book be better than any other religious book?" then you are thinking correctly and should continue this train of questioning. Now allow me to help out a bit. The Bible is a unique book because: 1. No other book has had so many authors and yet be so complete without any contradictions. 2. The Bible is the only religious book to make SPECIFIC prophetic predictions that have ALL come true so far. 3. Any mention of science in the Bible has been found accurate. 4. Any mention of geography in the Bible has been found accurate. 5. The Bible has never been proved false or incorrect in any aspect. 6. This book has changed so many lives -- it is simply incredible if you start to look at the numbers. 7. This book has sold more copies than any other book (And that doesn't include all the free copies given out!) These seven facts should give you some food for thought. And to directly answer the question, now that you have some background material to mentally chew on; The Bible provides truth because it was written by the very source of Truth. The Bible is one of three physical witnesses that god left for mankind to search out. the other two are the Great Pyramid of Giza (falsely called a tomb) and the Message written in the stars - the Zodiac does tell a story.

Why does the Church read the Bible at face value and not dig for the truth?

A:The Church may not seek the real, underlying truth of the bible, but biblical scholars do. It is the role of theologians to defend Christianity and if they began to accept the real truth of the Bible, it could be the end of Christianity. Another perspective:It stands to reason that a "church" that doesn't "dig for the truth" of the Bible is not genuinely representative of Christ's church at all, which holds truth in the utmost regard. Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.(John 17:17)
