this tower was build to show the wealth in the town, but when the war with Florence they spent all there money in the war buying stuff for people who where fighting, they lost all there money. now people all around the world are coming to see the leaning tower of Pisa

Because the tower was in serious danger of toppling completely by 1964, the Italian government asked for aid and advice to preserve it. It took many decades of consultation and preparatory efforts, but finally the tower was closed to the public in January 1990 for a period of about 11 years while corrective reconstruction and stabilisation work was done. The lean of the tower, which had become excessive, was corrected by removing 38 cubic metres of soil from underneath the raised end.
