she wants to act as a mother figure to Jem and Scout because they don't have a mother, just Calpurnia which has been like a mother to them, but aunt Alexandra doesnt think that she's been doing a good job.

"Aunt Alexandra fitted into the world of Maycomb like a hand into a glove, but never into the world of Jem and me" (Lee 149). This is a simile because it uses the word, like, to compare Aunt Alexandra to a hand. "Aunt Alexandra was standing stiff as a stork" (Lee 150). This is a simile because it uses the word, as, to compare Aunt Alexandra's reaction to a stork. "Our father was actually fidgeting" (Lee 150). This is a form of foreshadowing because Atticus is never know for fidgeting and he may be fidgeting because of the presence of his sister in his house.
