When heat is added to a particle, it will get more exited and move faster. The more heat you add, the faster the particles will move, and the further form one another they will be. Therefore, adding energy to the particles will also increase the spaces between them.

energy makes particles move. The more energy the particles have, the faster they can move and they farther apart they can get.

Why do substances change phases when energy is added or removed?

Due to the breaking or formation of the bonds that hold the particles together.

If enough energy is added to matter in the liquid state it will change into a different state during this change of state the particles would?

move faster and break free from other particles, entering the gas state.

How does the behavior of the particles change as energy is added?

In microscopic scale such as gas particles, more energy is more to particles kinetics, it will move faster and bounce on surface at faster rate. It will resulted to higher pressure or more volume from expansion or the increase of temperature or all of 3 combined.

What has to be added to change one state of matter to another?

heatMost often: energyRemove energy from a gas and it usually liquefies, remove energy from a liquid and it usually solidifies. These changes of phase always occur with a change of heat. Heat, which is energy, either comes into the material during a change of phase or heat comes out of the material during this change. However, although the heat content of the material changes, the temperature does not.

What atom's energy change is when an electron is added to an atom?

The energy change that occurs when an electron is added to a gaseous atom is called the electron affinitybecause it measures the attraction, or affinity, of the atom for the added electron. The ionization energy measures the energy changes associated with removing electrons from an atom to form positively charged ions.

What happens to the particles of matter when thermal energy is added to it?

When thermal energy is added to particles of matter, it causes the particles to move faster and emit more energy.

What happens to particles inside of a solid liquid or gas when energy is added compared to when energy is removed?

When energy is added the particles inside the substance vibrate more. Conversely, the vibrate less when energy is removed.

What happens to the motion of water particules when heat energy is added to the water?

Molecules move faster when heat energy is added to to water. The water temperature mayincrease or some or the molecules may get enough energy to change phase from solid to liquidor from liquid to vapor.

What is a measure of the energy of motion of the particles in a substance?

Particle motion increases as energy (like heat) is added. The motion slows as energy leaves. Temperature is a measure of this change in particle motion.

How does gas change into liquid?

The short answer generally is that heat energy is lost from the gas particles to the sourrounding area, resulting in the attraction forces of the particles to draw them closer to each other and condensing the matter into a liquid. When heat is added, the particles move around faster. When enough heat is added, the energy eventually overcomes the attraction force, causing the matter to evaporate into a gas.
