The United States Constitution effects all Americans because it forms the basis of the Law of The Land. Written by act of Convention in 1787, it created the Federal Government and establishes the Executive Branch, Legislature, and Judiciary. Gives each specific powers and establishes a system of checks and balances to ensure no one branch holds all the power. Within the Constitution you also find powers reserved to the Central Government also called The Federal Government and powers reserved to the State Governments. The first 10 Amendments to the Constitution establish what is called the Bill of Rights, or the basic liberties given to the "people" of the United States.
