There seems to be a little contact on the keyboard. To install it you must take off the regular battery trap door. The Keyboard then has a contact that leeches a little bit of power from the battery to power the OLED on the outside of the keyboard. Then it works like any other clamshell phone with a touch screen in the middle.

I currently have the LG Versa and it, in my opinion is a great phone. The camera is great because it focuses but it is a little slow. The Versa by Verizon Wireless is a fast phone, too. But the only thing is, it does not have a full keyboard. When you turn it sideways, while you are texting, you get a full keySCREEN. That makes it a lot harder to text.
