The state courts aid in the process of naturalization, where this most often takes place. State and local police officers aid the F.B.I. by detaining those who commit federal crimes, and holding them in local jails.
This question was answered in accordance to Magruders American Govenment curriculum. Christian Heritage School, Trumbull, CT.
The states ratify ammendaments. But only amendments that pertain or affect the state. State and local election officials conduct national elections in each State; the elections are financed with State and local funds and are regulated largely by State laws. Also, the process of aliens becoming citizens (called naturalization) takes place most often in State, not federal, courts. Those who commit federal crimes and are sought by the FBI are often picked up by State and local police officers and then held in local jails. The examples of States helping National Government are almost never-ending.

Because it governs a federation of states that have governments in their own rite as well.
Hamiltonians were the people who supported Alexander Hamilton and jeffersonians were the people who supported Jefferson and Madison. Hamilton wanted the other states who had finished paying off their debts to help the other states who hadn't paid of their debts, and he also supported the creation of the national bank, which he believed would greatly help the government. Basically the jeffersonians disagreed with this.
The federal government controlled the Confederate states during Reconstruction.
He believed that the government should assume all government debts because he thought that since they were all incurred with the cause of liberty in mind, and everyone had gotten that liberty (well, not slaves), then everyone gets to help pay the debt by making it the federal government's debt.

Immigration policy
Yes, states do play a role in helping the national government in the area of immigration policy. While the federal government has the ultimate authority to create and enforce immigration laws, states can assist by cooperating with federal immigration agencies, sharing information, and implementing certain immigration policies at the state level. However, the balance of power between the federal government and states in this area can vary and has been the subject of ongoing debate.
To a degree, it did. Federalism established the hierarchy of power (National government, then state, then local). The powers of each level of government were defined fairly clearly, so states solved their own states' rights issues, and they didn't need to wait for national government action.
they help do stuff like look after police in the area, state government and other stuff

"One part of the national government has powers important to a healthy national economy. It can raise taxes and regulate trade trade between the states. It also has the sole power to coin and print money. Other parts of the national government also have powers that help unify the nation. The President is responsible for carrying out all the laws of the nation."
