The only way a paua can move, is if it takes it's exoskeleton and transforms it into an endoskeleton, therefore, making it slide across the ground, also, they create a natural lubrication, enabling it to move easier.
Paua reproduces fairly similar to fish, the Male Paua releases a large amount of sperm whilst the female releases a large amount of spores.....as long as the 2 interconnect then we get baby Paua.
The humuhumunukunukuapua'a, or reef triggerfish, reproduces via external fertilization. The female lays eggs in a nest which is then fertilized by the male triggerfish. The developing young are guarded by the female until they hatch.
Mostly Paua try and camouflage their outer shell so when clinging to rocks they look like they are part of a rock. It is common to see even plant growth on a Paua Shell, which helps with the camouflage process.
They use their tongue (radula) to nibble on bits of seaweed and scrape off algae off rocks.
Cicadas do not really defend themselves and have many predators that can eat them. They may protect themselves by predator satiation which means they emerge all at once and predators are not able to eat them all.
They build a home underground to protect them from predators

Penguins swim away from predators (sea lions, sharks) in the water. On land, the penguins group together to protect themselves and their chicks.
Lions do not have predators except for other lions and human beings. They protect themselves from humans by hiding and running when they see us. They protect themselves from other lions by either doing the same thing, or by fighting the other lions.
Mainly Paua only have 2 predators, the main one being man, the second is a large starfish.
