In photoshop, images can apear layered ie. Foreground, Mid-ground, and Background. Photoshop has a layers pallete to allow you to order what elements of a picture appear in front, or behind an another element, and lets you easily move those elements around or adjust them separately. The little eyeball to the left of a layer can be toggled on or off (by clicking it) to make a make a layer visible or invisible, the opacity setting adjusts how transparent anything in that layer is, or apply layer styles to that layer by clicking to the right of the name (if it's the original background layer, it will need to be unlocked first by double clicking and naming it). You can also right click on the layers to bring up context-sensitive actions.

How do you return the layer box on Photoshop?

If the Layers palette is missing, you can return it by clicking on the "Window" menu near the top of Photoshop, then selecting "Layers" to ad a checkmark next to it, indicating that it is now visible. Photoshop also allows palettes to be un-docked from the program and dragged around anywhere on your screen, not just in the Photoshop window, so if you have a dual-monitor setup, make sure that you didn't somehow hide the palette on your second monitor.

How do you adjust the transparency of a picture i photo shop?

Open the picture in Photoshop In your Layer palette, the picture will show up as "background". By Default, this background layer is locked. You need to unlock this layer. Just double click on this background layer, when a "new layer" window pop up just press "ok" ( or you can rename this layer if you want to ) If for whatever reason you can not unlock this layer, just grab this layer and drop it in the duplicate layer icon on the bottom of the layer palette ( the one next to the trash can ) OR you can right click on this background layer and select " duplicate layer" The point is that you need a layer that's not locked. If you choose this duplicate layer method, remember to delete this background layer or turn off the eye on this background layer in order to see the transparency working. When you have a layer that's not locked, in the layer palette, there's an "opacity" option that's set to 100%, change this percentage and you've got a picture that will be transparent. Hope this helps.
