Sonar has been linked to injury and to the stranding of whales and some other marine mammals. It is difficult to actually prove a "causal connection" between sonar and the injuries and strandings, but oceanographers and marine biologists are working on this issue. Laws have been passed recently in the U.S. and the military has been given a Presidential override on their use of sonar because it is too important to national security to restrict its use.
hello its me
The oragin of the sonar in whales in dolpins. They were the first to use ecolocation to ee under water.
SONAR is an acronym for Sound Navigation And Ranging. LIDAR would use light.
The first recorded use of sonar was in the time of Da Vinci - 1490. Stick a hydrophone in the water and listen to see what you can hear. That's sonar. It was left until the early 1900's when the Titanic sunk that sonar was looked at to aid marine navigation. The development of submarines at about this time caused the military to investigate it. Electronics was growing up in the same period, and all these factors combined to bring us "modern" sonar. A link to the Wikipedia article is provided, and the "History" portion of the post is short and easy to read. Why not surf on over and check it out?
sonar whales should be put in the military. The have a huge radius in hearing and it can be helpful alot to military troops
Sonars were used to detect any objects that got into the detection field of the sonar. By this, the military could detect enemy submarines etc., which they couldn't see normally because of the opacity and/or darkness of the water.
No, the Arctic fox does not use sonar. It is not equipped with sonar.
Do boats use sonar. Yes they do.
It has been known too but the military Denys it.
they use SONAR. :)
We can use sonar to map the lake's floor.

Scientsts use sonar to map the depth of water in sea and river etc..,they also use sonar to locate and identify object underwater
Scuba Divers use a Sonar to find treasure or a hidden ship.
Exactly the same. Sonar is Sound. We use the word sonar to indicate what use that the sound is put to- not to differentiate it from sound its self.
military just before WW2.
