The Moon itself doesn't change at all. What we see as the "phases" of the Moon are simply the month-long days and nights on the Moon's surface.

The light comes from the Sun, over THERE, while we see the daylit part of the Moon from the Earth, HERE. At the "new" phase, the daytime side of the Moon is the farside; at the new, we're seeing the lunar night. At the full moon, we see the lunar noon.

How does the moon change its phase?

New moon to New moon takes 29.53 days. During this time the moon goes through several phases; (New moon) Waxing crescent moon (First quarter moon - half moon) Waxing gibbous moon (Full moon) Waning gibbous moon (Last quarter moon - half moon) Waning crescent moon (Dark moon) So roughly 7.5 days between each; New-half, half-full, full-half, half-new.

Which is heavier a half moon or a full moon?

A full moon is heavier than a half moon because a full moon occurs when the moon is at its maximum size and brightness, while a half moon represents a phase midway between a new moon and a full moon, resulting in less mass and weight.

When the moon is more than half full but less than completely half is called?

When the moon is more than half full but less than completely full, it is called a "gibbous" moon. Specifically, if it is approaching full, it is referred to as a "waxing gibbous" moon. If it is receding from full, it is called a "waning gibbous" moon. This phase occurs between the first quarter and full moon phases.
