How a persons blood pressure may change as they age is largely related to HOW they age. Your blood pressure is affected by many different things but if we are speaking strictly of age related causes, then in my opinion, Endothelial (the inner lining of our blood vessel walls) integrity would be at or near the top of my list.

As we age this lining or layer of cells undergo changes in elasticity which translates to losing their ability to expand and contract with the systolic and diastolic movement of blood. In the normal aging process the blood vessels become more stiff with the passage of time and makes it harder for them to expand with each heartbeat resulting in higher blood pressure readings.

How you age through modifying your diet, can greatly improve this slow deterioration.

Simple steps to take would include:

1) Maintaining lower blood glucose levels. This slows the damage to your cells since sugar is highly reactive when it is being used as a primary fuel source for cell metabolism

2) Increase your intake of Fish Oil, EPA and DHA primarily. Recent studies show that supplementation with fish oil helps improve endothelial elasitcity.

Blood pressure tends to increase with age due to factors like stiffening of the arteries and decreased elasticity in blood vessels. Lifestyle habits, genetics, and medical conditions can also impact blood pressure. It is important to regularly monitor blood pressure and make necessary lifestyle changes or seek medical advice if it becomes elevated.

A normal blood pressure is between 120 and 150. Blood pressure readings do change with age, as you normally start to develop heart problems (especially in men). However, this change will be gradual, and your body will adapt to it. You will often notice no signs of high blood pressure until your next trip to the doctor.
