Overdrive means the wheels are turning faster than the engine so gas is saved, (5th gear would be overdrive) however if you want to accelerate quickly you will have to shift into a lower gear which would make the engine turn faster than the wheels.
Honda Manual Transmission Fluid is recommended for a 5-speed manual B16A motor. Amsoil Manual Transmission Fluid will also work in a 5-speed manual B16A motor.
Assuming you have a 4.3 GM engine, the manual is probably an NV3500 five speed overdrive transmission. You can use it on a 5.0, 5.3, or 5.7 V8, but if you turbocharge those engines, or try using it on a big block V8, the torque will be way excessive for that transmission - you would need to upgrade to the NV4500.
speed sensor on top of transmission,if the speed sensor does not work then the shift inside the trans is broken and trans will need to be rebuilt
The 1984 Corvette's 4+3 transmission is a hybrid system that combines a standard four-speed manual transmission with an additional three-speed overdrive unit, allowing for a total of seven gear ratios. The driver operates the four-speed manually, while the overdrive can be engaged by a switch on the gear shifter, facilitating smoother highway driving and improved fuel efficiency. This setup effectively allows for better performance and versatility, optimizing the engine's power delivery across various speeds. The system was designed to enhance the driving experience while maintaining the classic feel of a manual transmission.
Overdrive might not work on a 1992 Dakota because there is a problem with the transmission. The shift solenoid or a belt is not functioning properly inside the transmission.
The 2006 Chevrolet Colorado has a 5-speed manual.
The overdrive button on a 1997 Crown Victoria may not work due to several potential issues. Common causes include a faulty overdrive switch, a malfunctioning vehicle speed sensor, or problems with the transmission itself. Additionally, low transmission fluid levels or old fluid can affect overdrive functionality. It's best to have the vehicle diagnosed by a professional to identify and resolve the specific issue.
Yes.
like any other 4 speed transmission.
Over drive is always to reduce engine RPM at Med to high speed cruise thus saving fuel. If this is an Automatic car just ignore the Overdrive and let it work. If this is a manual car use over Drive when maintaining a steady speed and the car will not "Labour" to do so.
The ECU for an automatic can be used in a manual transmission. However, it will not work vice-versa with the ECU from a manual transmission in an automatic.
First the gear could be out. The other issue could be with the linkage itself in the transmission thus it won't go into overdrive.
