The easy answer to your question is that the sun does not stay in existence indefinitely.

The sun is a collection of mainly hydrogen which the sun burns into helium. For as long as the sun has enough hydrogen and mass to continue this progress, it will stay in existence. When the hydrogen supply becomes too low to support the nuclear fusion, the sun will start a process which will eventually result in the sun ceasing to exists as the type of star we know today. The end for our sun is believed to be a neutron star.
