H+ and OH- ion responsible for acidic and basic behaviour are consumed by oppositely charged ions present in buffer solution to form a weak acid or base which is not much efficient to release H+ or oH- ion so pH does not change. But this happens only when strong acid or base is added to buffer in small amount.

A buffer stabilizes pH during addition of acid by neutralizing the added acid with its conjugate base, preventing a large change in pH. Similarly, during addition of base, the buffer neutralizes the added base with its conjugate acid to resist significant changes in pH. The key difference lies in which component of the buffer system is used to counteract the added acid or base.

What is true when a buffer is formed during a titration?

When a buffer is formed during a titration, it helps maintain a relatively constant pH despite the addition of acid or base. Buffers are able to resist changes in pH by accepting or donating protons in response to changes in the solution. This makes them important in maintaining the stability of a solution during a titration process.

What is buffer storage warehouse?

A buffer storage warehouse is a facility used to temporarily store goods or products during transitional stages of the supply chain. It helps in smoothing out fluctuations in demand or supply by providing a buffer between different stages of production or distribution. This can prevent delays or disruptions in the overall process.

What does the buffer zone of the heart do?

The buffer zone of the heart helps to protect the heart by providing a layer of cushioning and support between the heart and surrounding structures like the lungs and chest wall. It also allows for flexibility and movement of the heart during normal activities like breathing and exercise without causing damage.

Which sentence best describes a buffer?

A buffer is a temporary storage location used to hold data during the transfer between two devices or processes. Buffers help smooth out the communication between these devices by compensating for any differences in data processing speeds.

What is buffer solution in titration?

A buffer solution in titration helps maintain a relatively constant pH during the titration process. It is composed of a weak acid and its conjugate base (or a weak base and its conjugate acid). This helps prevent large changes in pH that could affect the accuracy of the titration.

What is a buffer tank in wastewater plant?

A buffer tank adds carbon dioxide to wastewater. How much carbon dioxide is added and dissolved in the water affects the pH. In short, a buffer tank is used to adjust the pH of water during treatment.

What is function of Buffer AP1 in DNA extraction?

The buffer AP1 is vital in DNA extraction as it acts as a cleanser to break up the lipids surrounding the cellular membrane. The buffer also maintains the right environment for the DNA so it is not damaged during the extraction process.
