Veins carry deoxygenated blood back to the right atrium of the heart, which sends it through the tricuspid valve to the right ventricle to the pulmonary semilunar valve to the pulmonary arteries to the lungs (to become oxygenated and get rid of waste gases) to the pulmonary veins to the left atrium of the heart through the bicuspid valve to the left ventricle through the semilunar aortic valve to the ascending aorta to the aortic arch and out to the body.

So the only veins that are oxygenated are the pulmonary veins that carry the oxygenated blood from the lungs to the left atrium of the heart. They are still called veins because they carry blood TO the heart. Thus, the only deoxygenated blood in arteries is also the pulmonary arteries, because they carry the deoxygenated blood AWAY from the heart to the lungs. All veins must carry blood toward the heart and all arteries must carry blood away from the heart.

Does the pulmonary artery carry oxygenated blood or deoxygenated blood?

The pulmonary artery carries oxygenated blood. You can remember this easily because all ARTERIES carry oxygenated blood and all VIENS carry deoxygenated blood.

Do veins carry oxygenated blood or deoxygenated blood?

Deoxygenated With the exception of the pulmonary vessels, veins carry deoxygenated blood; arteries carry oxygenated blood.

Ateries carry oxgen rich or poor blood?

Arteries carry oxygenated(oxygen rich blood) and veins carry deoxygenated blood. But pulmonary artery carry deoxygenated blood and pulmonary vein carry oxygenated blood.

Do capillaries carry oxygenated or deoxygenated blood?

Capillaries carry Oxygenated (oxygen rich) blood and De-oxygenated (oxygen depleted) blood.

What is different about pulmonary arteries and pulmonary veins?

The pulmonary artery and pulmonary vein originates in the heart. What is different about them is that the pulmonary artery carries deoxygenated blood (blood without oxygen) as supposed to other arteries, which carry oxygenated blood. And the pulmonary vein carries oxygenated blood unlike other veins, which carry deoxygenated blood.

Do arteries only carry oxygenated blood?

Arteries carry oxygenated blood away from the heart so it can travel to the various organs and be used. However the pulmonary artery is an exception as it carries deoxygenated blood to the lungs to gain oxygen. Otherwise the others only carry oxygenated blood :)

What is different from a artery and a vein?

arteries carry oxygenated blood and veins carry deoxygenated blood

Which blood vessels carry oxygenated and deoxygenated blood?

In the main, except from the pulmonary artery and vein. The pulmonary artery carries deoxygenated blood from the heart to the lungs and the vein carries oxygenated blood from the lungs to the heart.

Is venous blood deoxygenated?

No, it is oxygenated. Pulmonary veins are the only veins in the human body that carry oxygenated blood.

Do veins and ateries carry oxygenated blood?

Arteries carry oxygenated blood to the body tissues and organs. Veins carry deoxygenated blood from the tissues back to the heart and lungs where it becomes oxygenated again.

Is the blood in arteries oxyenated or deoxygenated?

The blood in arteries is usually oxygenated because arteries carry blood away from the heart.
