It was made by Crosman air gun co. Any JC Higgins air gun that starts with model # 126 is a Crosman any model that starts with # 799 was made by Daisy. Your model is most likely a Crosman model 180. If I am correct about the Crosman model 180, then here is the link to the Owners manual (See Below) The model 180 was made between 1956-1967
I'm going to try and help you with an answer. I know for a fact that the 126.2830 was made by Crosman for Sears. All Sears model starting with 126.XXXX were Crosman models. My catalogue list the model 126.2831 as a model 180 Crosman rifle not a gun, and I think yours is a variation of that model. See the #1 link below to see if it is a match. The 180 has almost no forearm, a long barrel. It's a single shot .22 Caliber bolt action and is driven by a C02 cylinder. It was made between 1956-59 and again from 1960-66 with some slight changes.
