It was made by Crosman air gun co. Any JC Higgins air gun that starts with model # 126 is a Crosman any model that starts with # 799 was made by Daisy. Your model is most likely a Crosman model 180. The Sears (JG HIGGINS) model 126.2831 is a Crosman model 180 made for Sears. It was made in 2 variations. The first variant had a Crossbolt safety 1956-1959. The second variant had a die-cast trigger housing 1962-1967. This rifle is a .22 caliber pellet rifle, not a .177 caliber rifle or BB rifle. In poor condition it is worth $25. In good - $80 to $105. I'm going to try and help you with an answer. I know for a fact that the 126.2830 was made by Crosman for Sears. All Sears model starting with 126.XXXX were Crosman models. My catalogue list the model 126.2831 as a model 180 Crosman rifle not a gun, and I think yours is a variation of that model. See the #1 link below to see if it is a match. kind of an answerI went online and found a guy in PA who repairs older pellet guns, I might be able to look it up, the gun was made by Crosman I think, I have one that has a maple (lightwood) stock with a white line spacer between the barrel and air chamber tube full length of rifle, mine says on it J.C. HIGGINS "22" CALIBER 126.19301 not the 10 as you say mine is 01 he was able to get it shooting solidly again i think it $30+shipg. If you are stating that it's in 95% condition then I would rate this as Very good and it would be worth around $100. The rifle was made between 1956 -67.
