The plates that construct the Earth either slip past each other, or two move towards each other whilst creating a gap between others, this movement causes a vibration in which is the Earthquake. Depending on which plates move, depends on the type of Earthquake and thus, how much damage is caused.
Hope it helps :)
When two or more tectonic plates bump up or slide past each other.
in the lithosphere
the plates in the earth move and shake
no reason
a MASSIVE HOLE!!!
earthquake is produced
Sometimes a tsunami is generated.
Earthquake generated waves are called seismic waves. These are waves of energy that travel through the Earth's layers. Their velocity depends on the elasticity and density of the medium that they travel through.
Usually, the kinds of earthquakes that occur in Hawaii are generated by volcanoes.
The Bam earthquake happened in the year 2003. This happened because of the stresses generated by the wave of the Arabian plate northward contrary into the Eurasian plate. About 31,000 people were killed in the disaster.
A seismometer / seismograph.A seismograph measures and records the waves generated by earthquakes and similar seismic events.
A Tsunami is generated by an underwater earthquake.
The Thailand tsunami was generated by a major earthquake in the sea.

the crust of the earth is swithching over each other

Sound wave is is generated by a vibrating object.Whereas, seismic wave is the vibration generated by an earthquake or explosion.
No because the New Madrid quakes occurred far inland, so therefore no tsunami was generated by the plate tectonics under a large body of water as is the mechanism for most earthquake-generated tsunamis. However, the New Madrid fault earthquake did cause the Mississippi river to flow backwards.
