It is very simple to use an oil change pump. It is a system that sucks the oil out of your engine through the dipstick tube, it eliminates the need to drain the oil from the oil pan and you never have to get under your vehicle.

How do you change external oil pump on 98 Ford F-150 4.2 v6?

this i my experience for a 1997\98 ford f150 4.2 v6. It is very easy. step1 get ready to get greasy and deal with the task ahead of you lol.1 This year make and model has a external oil pump.1st step remove drain oil. 2. remove oil filter connected to the oil pump. 3. why you are at this point you might as well change the oil sending unit above the oil pump.this is the little device that is connected to a connecter with one wire.NOTE: be carefull to remove female connection very sensitive. 4. Oil pump has 6 bolts to unmount or loosen.5. when all are loosened be care to remove oil pump. 5. make sure to remove old gasket from block if still connected. Clean surface of block. And now you have removed the oil pump. *****GOOD LUCK ON INSTALLING****** Make sure you are to prime oil pump and use torq wrench specifications and tightining order.

There is a hexagonal rod between the oil pump and distributor. As the distributor turns so does the oil pump. The newer DIS engines use a distributor plug that retains the drive gear for the oil pump rod.

If a 2000 Pontiac Firebird 3800 V6 froze due to oil pump failure and timing chain bind are the two related?

Many timing chain tensioners use oil pressure to operate as well as lubricate the chain. So oil pump failure and timing chain bind can be related. This car has a spring tensioner that does not use oil pressure. Your problem was most likely a clogged oil pickup screen. This will starve the pump. You need to change oil more often.
