Ovens are usually well insulated so that they do not heat up the kitchen very much. But a large oven takes a fair amount of energy to heat up before the cooking starts, and for cooking small items it is therefore not very energy-efficient.

For energy-efficient cooking a microwave or a slow cooker use less energy.
